The 2026 South Carolina Wing Summer Encampment is scheduled for July 17 (Staff Arrival Day), July 18, 2026 (Student Arrival Day) - July 25, 2026, at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
Application Approval Process
The encampment staff reviews submitted applications for completeness as they are received and logs in the application. All applicants are listed with a status of “Alternate” in this process. Incomplete applications will be returned for corrections and suspends the approval queue pending receipt of a complete package.
Once an application is approved, the encampment will “Slot” the cadet will be slotted, and payment can be made at that time.
Medical Authorization Form Instructions and Handling of Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medicines
If any cadet participating in the encampment takes prescription or over-the-counter medications, including the use of an asthma inhaler, you must complete the CAPHealth Profile and include every medication that your child will or may take during the encampment. This includes all prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.
Payment Instructions
Payment must be made after the cadet is slotted via Registration Zone. The cost is $275.
ELIGIBILITY AND REFUNDS
To be eligible to attend the encampment as a first-time student, cadets must have completed the Curry Achievement and have been promoted to Cadet Airman (C/Amn) before the encampment begins.
Any member failing to provide fee payment by the deadline may forfeit their encampment slot. Extensions to the payment deadline may be granted by the encampment commander for extenuating circumstances. These requests must be sent directly to the encampment commander for approval by emailing encampment@scwgcap.org.
PREPARATION
All encampment participants will experience long, demanding, and very active days. Cadets can expect to be active about 16 hours a day. To be successful at encampment, prior preparation is critical. Arrive at encampment with the correct equipment, well-rested, and hydrated. Proper hydration will help prevent many common encampment injuries and serve to keep you healthy during a demanding week. Cadets should study available encampment materials prior to encampment so that the information is fresh and does not result in cramming.

TRANSPORTATION
Transportation to and from the activity is not the responsibility of CAP.
All participants wearing the Air Force-style uniform must comply with grooming and dress guidelines outlined in CAPM 39-1. Cadets who do not meet these standards will be unable to in-process until their appearance is corrected.
Responsibility for Cadet Appearance: The adult accompanying the cadet will be responsible for ensuring compliance. If necessary, this may include:
Squadron commanders will be notified of any grooming-related delays. To prevent issues upon arrival, unit leaders are strongly encouraged to conduct uniform and grooming checks prior to encampment.
CHECK-IN
First-Time Students:
Report date is TBD between the hours of TBD in ABUs. Do NOT wait until the last minute to arrive. Make sure you eat breakfast BEFORE you arrive. The first meal served will be lunch; no snacks will be available (exception: medical emergencies). Cadets who are flying should NOT fly in their uniform for their safety and privacy. They will be allowed to change if going straight from the airport to encampment.
For the safety and security of all participants, parents will not be permitted to accompany their cadets beyond the initial medical/grooming standards checkpoint during end processing unless granted command approval. Parents will NOT enter the base at this time. They will rally at the parking lot off Exit 9 outside of the gate. Those with a military ID should not enter the base just because they can. See below about visitor requirements during encampment.
ARRIVAL
Parents, including those with a military ID, will rally at the parking lot of Gate 4. They will NOT enter the base.
Take the exit for Percival Road and then follow signs to Boyden Arbor Road, which leads to Gate 4.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Once you enter the check-in area, you will follow staff directions and signs. You will sign-in, receive your encampment T-shirt and other items, go through contraband check, and have the opportunity to speak to the Health Services Officer and the Chaplain if needed. Afterwards, you will be escorted to your barrack as a flight to begin unpacking. Finally, you will attend the Encampment Orientation class, and the fun will begin!
Carpooling:
Carpooling is encouraged, but the encampment staff cannot assist in this coordination. It's recommended to ask within your squadron.
Privately-Owned Vehicles:
Cadets who drive to the encampment must turn in their vehicle keys upon arrival. Cadets driving as students will be given separate instructions for where to park their cars after they in process.
VISITATION
Visitors are not allowed or authorized at encampment without written permission (may be via e-mail) directly from the Wing Commander, Col. James Brogan. The encampment takes place on a military base. For the safety and security of all CAP personnel, unscheduled or uncoordinated visitation is prohibited. This restriction applies to family and friends of encampment participants, active duty military, veterans, and military dependents, as well as CAP members not assigned to the encampment.

GRADUATION
Adults ages 18 and older must submit a base access form in order to attend graduation. Form link is TBD. This is an active US Army base. CAP does not have authority to grant access to the installation.
Gate Information and Access Control
In accordance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 and Army Regulation 190-13, all visitors and uncleared contractors desiring unescorted access to Fort Jackson, must be vetted through the National Crime Information Center Interstate Identification Index (NCIC III). NCIC III is the Army’s baseline background check for entrance onto Army installations for Non-Common Access Card (CAC) or Non-DoD card holders. Upon successful completion of a background check the individual(s) will be issued a Fort Jackson installation Access Badge. This badge is only good for access onto the installation and to be available for presentation to Installation Security personnel. It is not to be used as a form of identification for other purposes.
REAL ID Requirement
Implementation of the REAL ID Act begins May 7, 2025. With exception to Basic Combat Training Family Day and Graduation or other senior commander special events, that day, and any day after that, anyone 18 years and older that plans to visit Fort Jackson will need a REAL ID or another acceptable form of identification to enter the installation.
Parents and visitors should use Exit 12 off I-77 to go to Gate 2 visitor center no later than TBD.
